LILI TRAN has a passion for human resources which began nearly 20 years ago. She began her career working in the private sector with companies such as R &D Systems (a software development firm), Hewlett Packard and Digital Equipment Corporation. After a few years, she moved into the public sector, spending 10 years as the Human Resources Director for the El Paso County Department of Health and Environment before joining the City of Colorado Springs. She spent a year as the Human Resources Manager for the Colorado Springs Police Department and was subsequently promoted to Director of Management Services. Her duties in this role included oversight of CSPD ’s fiscal services (management of an $87 million dollar budget); planning; research and development; grants management; information technology; logistics support services such as fleet management, facilities management, impound lot, and evidence services; and capital construction projects. Thereafter, she transferred to the Colorado Springs Fire Department to serve as their human resources manager and to get further experience in public safety and to return to HR.

Lili holds a bachelors degree in Business Administration (with dual emphasis in Human Resource Management and Organization Management) and a masters degree in Business Administration (with an emphasis in Leadership and Human Resource Management), both from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.

Lili is currently a member of the Colorado Springs Human Resources Association (and also served two terms as president from 1995-1997), Colorado Springs Society for Human Resource Management and the national Society for Human Resource Management. She also participates in the Colorado Springs Diversity Forum and the El Pomar ’s Emerging Leaders Program. She has also been active as a member of the American Management Association and the International Public Management Association for Human Resources.

Lili is a long-time resident of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and resides there with her husband and three children, as well as a large extended family. She enjoys Colorado ’s beautiful climate year round, and spends her free time reading, practicing home d écor, hiking and playing various sports.

MARISA WALKER started her human resources career in Denver, Colorado nearly 15 years ago and has been a steadfast champion for the profession ever since. Recruited by Arthur Andersen LLP, at the time one of the most prestigious professional services and accounting firms in the world, Marisa was hired to provide human resources support to a large Contract Accounting client in the Denver Tech Center. After several years learning the human resources ropes under some of the top HR talents in the country, Marisa was selected to join the esteemed national recruiting team for Arthur Andersen ’s Business Process Risk Consulting Practice operating out of the firm’s headquarters in Chicago, Illinois. After four years, Marisa was hired as a compensation analyst for the City of Colorado Springs where she was subsequently promoted to Compensation Manager for the city, managing the compensation and classification programs for the city ’s 2,500 employees for six years. Compensation and Benefits represent approximately 61% of the city ’s budget of $220 million at the time of her work in this capacity. Marisa also served on numerous committees and city-wide task forces, was a diversity trainer and was the architect of the city ’s executive recruitment program. Marisa spent the last three years of her city career as the Human Resources Manager for the Colorado Springs Police and Fire Departments. After her work with the city, Marisa served as the Human Resources Director for the Pueblo City-County Library District in Pueblo, Colorado before forming Human Capital Group, LLC.

Marisa holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Gerontology, graduating magna cum laude from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. She received her Professional Human Resources (PHR) certification from the Society of Human Resources Management in 2001.

Marisa is a member of the Colorado Springs Human Resources Association, Colorado Springs Society for Human Resource Management and the national Society for Human Resource Management.

A Colorado Springs native, Marisa resides there with her husband and two daughters. She enjoys spending time with family, is a severe weather buff and always cheers for the CU Buffaloes, even when they are having a bad year.
